Marseille to sign Jordan Veretout for €10m by the weekend

As reported by L’Équipe, AS Roma and France international midfielder Jordan Veretout has agreed personal terms with Marseille over a move this summer transfer window while a full deal between the clubs is also close.

The 29-year-old Veretout, say the sports daily, is expected to join the Velodrome club by the end of the week despite also being in contact with AC Milan over a move. The deal has been in the offing for some time but was delayed by Roma coach Jose Mourinho wanting to find a replacement before allowing the midfielder to leave the Italian capital.

Marseille are expected to pay around €10m to sign the former Nantes, Aston Villa and Saint-Etienne player who is very keen to join Marseille and is looking to regain his place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad ahead of the World Cup in November.

Since joining Roma in 2019 from Fiorentina, Veretout has played 131 games, scoring 22 times and adding 16 assists in all competitions. Newcastle and Napoli were also keen to sign the midfielder earlier this summer.
