A reliable colleague of ours at Foot Mercato reports this evening that Premier League relegation-battlers Watford are in talks to sign 21-year-old midfielder Youssouf Fofana from Strasbourg this month.

Atalanta had a €13m offer rejected for the young man earlier this week, with RCSA hoping to hold onto him until at least the end of the current campaign.

However, privately, Strasbourg admit that they would have to accept a €20m proposal in the final days of this window.
