Official | Cesc Fabregas signs for AS Monaco

AS Monaco have announced the signing of 31-year-old Spanish central midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea, in an utter coup for the Principality side.

After undergoing the first part of his medical earlier this week, Fabregas finished off the necessary checks this afternoon and is available for selection for Sunday’s match against Marseille.

Thierry Henry has achieved a massive coup in this signing, bringing in one of his closest friends into a club badly in need of reinforcements, currently sitting 19th in the Ligue 1 table.

The Spaniard has signed a deal until 2022 with Les Monegasques, receiving a signing bonus believed to be €10m.

Monaco VP Vasilyev responded to the deal:

“We are very happy to welcome Cesc Fabregas to AS Monaco, a world class player and a great professional, with his arrival showing the ambition of the club. He is obviously a very good technical signing for the team but we are convinced that his experience at the highest level will bring a lot to our players both on and off the pitch.”

Fabregas followed with his first words as an AS Monaco player:

“It is with great pleasure that I join AS Monaco, a new project for me. The squad is quality with young players and a young coach. I am here to help the team, I can’t wait to get started, we have a big match to play on Sunday against Marseille. I am very excited.”
