Baggu Bag is based out of Southern California and created by Emily Sugihara, a Parsons graduate and former Proenza Schouler intern and Joan Sugihara, a former art instructor at Princeton University. The mother daughter team saw the need for a better reusable bag in the eco marketplace. After experimenting with designs, the duo came up with a shopping tote that is functional, stylish and affordable, in the shape of the iconic shopping bag. Baggu Bags are an eco-friendly alternative to paper or plastic that are chic and functional, great for a mom shopping for a family of five by car or for an urbanite on foot in a city. The company’s design division is located in Williamsburg, New York, headed by Creative Director Ellen Van Der Laan, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design.
