I can’t believe how thrilled I am to find the Designer Social marketplace! We have all been using eBay for so long now, with a lowering levels of satisfaction. Yet, it’s benefits still outweighed it’s problems. Enter Designer Social.
As per their website, Designer Social is a community of designers, editors and fashion industry insiders who have come together to create a retail trade-space unlike any other. No only do they act as an online showroom featuring some great new designers as well as classic brands, it is a place to buy and sell chic, gently used handbags and accessories.
This site is unique in so many ways. First of all, when you go online, you will notice that it has a very clean and upscale, boutique feel about it. Very different from eBay! If you are looking for brands from Jimmy Choo, Katherine Kwei, Missoni to Yves Saint Laurent. In accessories, you will find everything from Hermes, Kenneth Jay Lane, Vintage to Nancy Gonzales Crocodile Bound notebook! You will be pleased by the well edited selection!
Along with selling new selections and samples from designers, it offers a rather unique way of selling your handbags and accessories. Potential items are submitted to them via a submissions form and photos that you take of your bag. They either approve or deny the submission. If approved, it’s up for sale at a set price on their site! There’s no bidding and no haggling. I recently submitted a handbag that I loved but never carried that sold within a week of publishing. And it was at a very good price!
Next, you send the handbag to Designer Social where they act as the intermediary and authenticate your handbag and confirm that it’s everything you said it was. Upon approval, it is sent to the buyer. Yes, it takes a little bit longer to deliver, but I absolutely LOVE that there is a third party confirming the authenticity and quality of your item. There is no way a buyer can say it was damaged or not authentic!
Finally, the buyer has the opportunity to return the bag within a week if they change their mind. Yes, I know it’s not a 100% firm commitment, but I’m okay with that since they must have a legitimate reason to return. And don’t forget, the Designer Social is there to make sure everything goes smoothly.
The transaction fee is 25% of the purchase price which isn’t too bad when you compare the amount of eBay and Paypal fees one must pay on those sales. In the end, I felt like the price was much better than I could have received on eBay. Designer Social (ites) are educated handbag aficionados and appreciate the level of professionalism and quality offerings maintained by DS!
Once your transaction is complete, they send you a check! Safe and secure! I am loving this new option! Check it out at www.designersocial.com
