Until today, I had never heard of Helena De Natalio handbags. But when I saw the lovely Helena De Natalio Carrie Hobo at Saks, I found myself very intrigued. So I did a little digging and I learned some interesting things about the designer, Helen Hoppock. A San Francisco native, Helen earned her economics degree from the University of Puget Sound (near Seattle). Then she moved to Natalio, Paraguay in 2005 after joining the Peace Corps. It was here that the idea behind Helena De Natalio began. Later that year, Helen moved to Buenos Aires and her handbag line made its debut. According to the official website, “Helen has teamed up with local Argentine artisans to create accessories with a distinctive Latin charm”. Looking at the Helena De Natalio Carrie Hobo, I never would have guessed. However, I think this bag is very beautiful nonetheless. I love the circular shape and soft pleats. And the tasseled zipper pulls add just the right amount of interest. I also love the unique adjustable strap. When shortened, it fits snugly under the arm. But when the strap is let out all the way, the bag is transformed into a low-slung hobo. And if you’re looking for a splash of color this season, definitely go for the Electric Blue! It is such a gorgeous color!
The Helena De Natalio Carrie Hobo is available in Black or Electric Blue. It measures 19″ x 10″ x 6″ and it retails for only $394. Find it exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue!
