The Kerala government, in its new health policy, has proposed to make vaccination cards mandatory for school admissions starting from next academic year. Announcing the decision, Kerala health minister KK Shailaja Teacher said, the government’s aim is to achieve 100 per cent immunisation in the state and discourage those elements campaigning against vaccination drives.

“The Health Department will undertake programmes to counter misinformation campaigns on immunisation and to create awareness among the public. Stringent action will be initiated against those who carry out these campaigns,” the minister said.
