CHAPEL HILL, NC — The University of North Carolina says 13 football players — including quarterback Chazz Surratt — will miss games this season over their involvement in selling team-issued shoes, specifically the UNC Retro Air Jordan 3’s. The university said in a release that the violation was self-reported.

The following players will be suspended for four games each:
Four games: Offensive lineman Brian Anderson, defensive end Malik Carney, wide receiver Beau Corrales, defensive end Tomon Fox, defensive end Tyrone Hopper, offensive lineman Quiron Johnson, linebacker Malik Robinson, Surratt and offensive lineman Jordan Tucker.
Defensive backs Greg Ross and Tre Shaw will miss two games, and quarterback Jack Davidson and offensive lineman Jonah Melton will miss one.
The News and Observer reported that 15 players in January sold the team-issued shoes in exchange for up to $2,500. The university learned of the sales when someone reportedly emailed the athletic director accusing numerous people of selling them to a local shoe store.
