The build to TakeOver: WarGames began on the latest episode of NXT.
Last night’s show included the announcement of the first-ever women’s WarGames match. Rhea Ripley and NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler will captain the two teams.
Ripley and Baszler’s teammates haven’t been revealed, but a brawl on NXT last night saw Ripley, Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox & Candice LeRae on one side and Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir on the other.
A men’s WarGames match was also all but officially announced for TakeOver. After Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish faced Matt Riddle & Keith Lee in the main event, Tommaso Ciampa came down with a crutch and saved Riddle and Lee from the Undisputed Era. Ciampa said winning the NXT Championship back will have to wait a bit — because he’s going to war.
The Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois will host TakeOver: WarGames on Saturday, November 23.
One week after turning heel, Finn Balor cut a promo addressing why he attacked Johnny Gargano. The Women’s Tag Team titles were also defended in NXT for the first time, with Asuka & Kairi Sane taking on Kai & Nox.
