Alexa Bliss and Scott Dawson have been able to make a name for themselves in WWE. Alexa Bliss is the first woman to hold the Smackdown Women’s Championship and Raw Women’s Championship titles. Meanwhile, Dawson has teamed up with Dash Wilder to form The Revival, a hard-hitting team that has captured the NXT Tag Team Championships on a few occasions. On Lillian Garcia’s podcast Chasing Glory, Bliss talked about her early struggles with delivering promos. “I started getting comfortable in promos when I was partnered with Scott Dawson in NXT. It never debuted on TV, but I was playing his girlfriend in promo classes for like a few months and that’s what really kind of got me comfortable with promos because I was out of the box, I was reenacting, I was reacting off of people, you know?” she said. Footage from 2013 of Dawson and Bliss playing their characters has also surfaced online recently.
As we all know by now, CM Punk and WWE have been at odds ever since Punk walked out on the company back in 2014. Punk has been extremely critical of the company’s medical staff which has led to a lawsuit against Punk and his friend Colt Cabana. The Dirty Sheets are now reporting that WWE is requiring Punk and Cabana to fork over large amounts of money up front now. WWE is reportedly trying to bring peace talks, and defendants are being asked to pay $250,000 to get the discovery investigation going. CM Punk has remained distant from professional wrestling ever since his departure. Though he lost his debut fight in UFC, he has reportedly started training for his next fight.
Sometimes it pays to be friends with WWE. UK promotion Insane Championship Wrestling has announced that NXT’s Kassius Ohno will be appearing at their upcoming ‘Infamous’ event to face off against Joe Coffey for the ICW World Heavyweight Championship. The match will be taking place on September 17th. WWE and ICW have had a partnership going back several years now. Stars such as Mick Foley and Finn Balor have appeared for the promotion while under contract with WWE, and Noam Dar wrestled for the promotion during the summertime. WWE is going to be continuing their partnership with ICW with Ohno vs. Coffey next Sunday.
