Sasha Banks and Charlotte were already going to make history at the next RAW-brand pay-per-view event, but now WWE has decided to double-down.
It was announced on Tuesday morning that in addition to being the first-ever Women’s Hell In A Cell match at the upcoming PPV, the two will also serve as the first-ever Women’s match to headline a WWE pay-per-view, as the Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte match inside Hell In A Cell for the RAW Women’s Championship has been named the main event of the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell 2016 pay-per-view.
“The biggest moment of the night for us came when the WWE cameras were off, and Stephanie [McMahon] and I just looked at the [WWE Hell In A Cell] poster, realizing that for Womens Wrestling, history is upon us – as Sasha Banks and Charlotte will main event the [WWE Hell In A Cell] PPV,” wrote WWE RAW General Manager Mick Foley official Facebook page.
Foley continued, “I am so happy for Sasha, for Charlotte, for all the women who paved the way, and all those who aspire to follow in their footsteps. It is no exaggeration to say that looking at that poster gave me chills…and they were multiplying.”
WWE Hell In A Cell 2016 takes place on Sunday, October 30th from the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. Join us here on 10/30 for live coverage of the pay-per-view.
