MMA News Roundup: Derrick Lewis Mocks Brock Lesnar (Video), Cyborg vs. Mayweather, UFC 222

It’s fight weekend, which means it’s time to step outside of the squared circle and into the Octagon for the latest MMA News Roundup.

Having said that, it’s time to take a look at what is making headlines in the MMA world:

DERRICK LEWIS MOCKS BROCK LESNAR

UFC Heavyweight contender Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis took to social media to mock Brock Lesnar this week. As noted, “The Beast Incarnate” recently met with UFC President Dana White in Las Vegas, and the UFC boss said there is a “very, very, very good chance” the WWE Superstar will fight in the UFC once again.

“The Black Beast” took a shot at Lesnar’s issues with USADA in the past in the aforementioned social media post. The UFC contender posted a video with Lesnar’s face on McCaully Caulkin in the movie “Home Alone,” as he shouts in fear when he sees a man with the face of USADA executive Jeff Novitzky coming after him.

Lesnar was given an exemption by USADA for his return at UFC 200 before fighting Mark Hunt. He would go on to defeat the former K-1 Champion by decision, only to have the fight ruling overturned to a “No Contest” after he tested positive in multiple drug tests surrounding the fight.

STEFAN STRUVE SAYS LESNAR DOESN’T BELONG IN UFC

Brock Lesnar is the talk of the town in the MMA community, that’s for sure. In addition to the video from “The Black Beast,” fellow UFC Heavyweight contender Stefan Struve was also critical of Lesnar possibly returning to the Octagon.

Struve, who meets former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski at this Saturday’s UFC 222 pay-per-view, explained in a recent interview why Lesnar doesn’t belong in the UFC.

“No (he shouldnít fight again); he doesnít belong here in my opinion,” Struve told MMAJunkie.com. “He got caught, and just look at that guy.”

Struve continued, “Heís a physical specimen, but it doesnít make sense. The way they brought him in with the exemption for him not having to do the testing for the four months when he came back ñ thatís ridiculous. You bring someone back, a guy who looks like him, and he doesnít have to get tested, and then fights? Mark Hunt, heís in the right. Of course heís upset with that.î

CRIS CYBORG SAYS SHE WOULD BEAT FLOYD MAYWEATHER

When Ronda Rousey was the clear-cut queen of the UFC Women’s division, there was a lot of comparisons between herself and Mike Tyson due to her ability to finish opponents inside the first round. This led to somewhat of a media tour debate as to whether or not Rousey could beat up pound-for-pound boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in a real fight.

After being knocked out by Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, that talk obviously died down. Well, now it’s back, just with a different face.

Reigning UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg, arguably the best and most dominant female fighter on planet earth, recently spoke out in a video about how she would approach a potential battle against “Money” Mayweather.

“You know Iîm going to try my grappling for him,” Cyborg said. ìThe first thing Iím going to try: double-leg. I think itíd be great. I think fighting Mayweather in boxing would be crazy but in MMA Iíd take him down,î she added.
