As reported by Le Parisien, PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum’s move to Italian side AS Roma is being held up by the Dutch international’s salary demands.

It was reported yesterday by Foot Mercato that the two clubs are heading towards a €6m loan-to-buy deal with an obligation to buy based on appearances with the Giallorossi wanting to close the deal within hours after two weeks of negotiations over the move.

However, the 31-year-old’s €10m yearly wage has halted proceedings as, the Paris paper report, the former Liverpool man doesn’t want to take a pay cut. As a result, the two clubs are arguing over how they will distribute the player’s salary during the loan period, if at all, given that such a wage remains too high for Roma to afford.

Wijnaldum’s situation is a common one at PSG after the Paris club signed several players on unrealistic wages which other clubs can’t match and that those players don’t want to leave behind, making it tricky to move players along now they’ve been deemed surplus to requirements.
