PSG have made contact over signing a new striker

As reported by L’Équipe, PSG are in the process of pursuing a new striker after their previous attempts to sign another forward failed this summer.

Support for Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Neymar in forward areas has been a priority for PSG’s new de-facto sporting director Luis Campos this summer but, other than the arrival of Reims’ 20-year-old prospect Hugo Ekitike, Paris have been unsuccessful.

Long talks with Sassuolo over striker Gianluca Scamacca failed with Paris not prepared to meet the Italian club’s valuation before he joined West Ham, while attempts to sign Polish striker Robert Lewandowksi failed as the player was insistent on moving to Barcelona.

Campos, however, has already opened talks over a deal for an unnamed third forward in recent times who L’Équipe’s sources describe as a complete attacker able to play through the middle and on the wings.

However, PSG would need to sell both Mauro Icardi and Arnaud Kalimuendo to make room for the new man. Leeds United are expected to make a new bid for Kalimuendo in the coming days.
