Manchester United enquire about €35m-rated Leandro Paredes

L’Équipe are reporting that Manchester United have made an enquiry about Leandro Paredes (28), but have been put off by PSG’s €35m asking price.

Paredes has two years remaining on his current deal at the Parc des Princes but only made 15 Ligue 1 appearances last season, scoring once. Despite being amongst a group of players considered “bankable,” and expendable by the hierarchy of the club, PSG aren’t willing to let him go on the cheap.

Manchester United enquired about a move but have been deterred by PSG’s €35m asking price. According to L’Équipe, when Manchester United approached to ascertain the availability of Paredes, they “walked out of dialogue” for a move when they were told of the fee being touted.

Since Luis Campos’ arrival at the club, vocally at least, there has been an emphasis on shifting out the deadwood. These words were echoed by new manager Christophe Galtier in his opening press conference at PSG.

However, PSG are currently setting the bar too high. Abdou Diallo (26) was of interest to Tottenham before they opted for a loan move for Clément Lenglet (27) because of the price being touted for the Senegalese centre-back.

It is unclear whether Manchester United will return to negotiations. Further talks between the two clubs over Paredes seem contingent upon PSG lowering their asking price. However, although PSG see trimming their squad as a key task this summer, they remain determined to receive significant fees for their saleable assets.
