L’Équipe report that Lille midfielder Renato Sanches is closing in on a move to Milan for a figure which is expected to be less than €20m, joining goalkeeper Mike Maignan who made the same move across the Alps last year.
The Portugal international has had an underwhelming season marred by injury, but nevertheless was key in Lille’s title-winning campaign in the 2020/21 season. This year, the 24-year-old has 2 goals and 5 assists in 25 matches. The former Bayern Munich man has been with the club since 2019, in a three-season spell which has seen him regain the form he lost after his initial breakout as a teenager.
Dutch defender Sven Botman is also expected to join the Rossoneri, although Lille’s asking price of €40m could mean Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain remain in the race for the centre-back.
Les Dogues are nevertheless looking to hold on to the likes of Jonathan David and Amadou Onana, who have been linked with moves away this summer. David’s agent had earlier this year indicated that his client would be leaving the north of France at the end of the season, but the Canadian’s drop in form after a mercurial 2021 calendar year may have stalled a potential transfer.
