L’Équipe via AFP report this afternoon that the Paris public transport workers’ union has called a strike on the RER A and B lines this Saturday, the day of the Champions League final.
The final between Real Madrid and Liverpool will take place at the Stade de France, of which the nearest station is on the RER B line. This connects it to the Gare du Nord station – where Eurostar trains arrive – and the Châtelet-Les Halles transport hub, through which the west to east RER A line also passes.
The strike could nevertheless have a limited impact given that the Paris public transport authority only manages the southern half of the RER B line.
The unions, who have already been organising a strike on buses and trams this week, are protesting over the lack of personnel and have called for the Champions League final to be disrupted.
