L’Équipe report that Zinédine Zidane has visited his hometown of Marseille today to show his support for a campaign targeting inequalities in French healthcare.
The former midfielder was specifically in the disadvantaged northern neighbourhood of La Castellane for the grand opening of a new virtual medical cabinet.
With his arrival understandably attracting a big crowd, the former Real Madrid manager notably spoke about his link to the city:
“You know it, I’m from La Castellane, I grew up here with my parents. Our heart is still here even if we’ve left.”
The area of the city had been without medical staff for the last two years. The World Cup winner praised the “fantastic project” which will “improve the lives of people and that of the neighbourhood, which is the most important thing”.
