Kylian Mbappé’s autobiographical comic book has sold over 200,000 copies

As reported by Le Parisien, in just over two months, Kylian Mbappé’s autobiographical comic book has sold over 200,000 copies.

In the 223-page comic book titled ‘My Name is Kylian’ and illustrated by cartoon artist Faro, amongst other stories, Mbappé recounts his first meeting with Zinedine Zidane as a 14-year-old, nervously asking if he should take his shoes off when getting in the Real Madrid man’s car.

Eventually releasing the comic via his publishing brand KM Éditions, Mbappé worked for over two and a half years on the project having picked a comic over the usual book format because “It’s more fun.” The 23-year-old PSG forward explained that:

“Children love when it’s illustrated, it suits them. They can identify with that. It was the idea that children would like it – that was the most important thing. Adults can also read it but it had to be as accessible as possible and I think it is.”

English and Spanish translations of the publication are being prepared while a cartoon adaptation is being considered too.
