Salvatore Sirigu arrives in Spain ahead of Sevilla move

Sevilla appear to be close to sealing a season-long loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu after the Italian arrived in Spain last night.

The 29-year-old Italian goalkeeper has fallen behind both Kevin Trapp and Alphonse Areola in the pecking order in the French capital, and he has signaled his desire to join a top European club who offer him the chance of first-team football.

Reports in L’Equipe and Le Parisien suggest that the loan deal will not include a purchase option for the Andalusians, while the goalkeeper’s wages will be split equally between the two clubs.

Both AS and Estadio Deportivo claim that the Italian is Sevilla’s number one choice, following a six-week injury layoff to David Soria and recent questionable form of Sergio Rico.

Despite rumours linking Valencia’s Diego Alves and Manchester City’s Joe Hart to Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan, these moves appear to be fizzling out due to wage demands and, in Hart’s case, a reluctance to go abroad.
