Lorient have announced the signing of Ghanaian attacker Majeed Waris from Trabzonspor on a long-term contract.

FCL paid Trabzonspor €5m for the player plus a 20% sell-on percentage, having stolen the player from right under their Brittany rivals’ noses. Representatives from both sets of clubs were present in Paris to pick the player up from the airport yesterday morning but Waris was instructed to join FCL by his agent, where he will reportedly earn €1m a year net.

Waris successfully underwent a medical and joins Lorient despite having previous concerns about the club’s synthetic pitch.
