Justin Timberlake is a jack of all trades—singer, dancer, actor, producer—but his Trolls co-star Anna Kendrick knows one thing that he’s not good at: social media. Apparently the 35-year-old isn’t exactly a tech wizard.

“I saw him trying to fumble through figuring out social media when we were on our press tour,” Kendrick said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday. “There was a point where someone I think had explained Instagram story to him, and he was like on the red carpet, and I was like, ‘The camera’s facing the wrong way. I know you just had a kid, but you’re immediately like the ultimate dad?’”

“He’s also really into the 3D version of Trolls. I hadn’t seen it, and he was like, ‘You’ve got … It’s like it’s coming at you!’ I was like, ‘Are you a time traveler? I know what 3D is,’” she joked.

With a major TV franchise under her belt—hello, Pitch Perfect—and a memoir on the way, Kendrick is officially part of the Hollywood in-crowd, but that wasn’t always the case. The 31-year-old talked to DeGeneres about the confusing period after being nominated for her first Oscar for 2010’s Up in the Air but still being unknown as an actress.

“I definitely had moments where, like my stylist that I now had was like, ‘You know, we really need you to be wearing, like, the perfect shoes for this outfit and because the movie isn’t out yet and nobody really knows who you are, the shoe places don’t want to loan you the shoes, so can you buy a pair of Louboutins?’” she said.

“And I was like, ‘I’m still poor. I don’t know what you think is happening.’ So it was this weird combination of like, all these great things are happening but at the same time nothing has changed.”
