A teenage boy’s indomitable spirit led him to win silver in a wrestling championship event held last week in Karnataka. Nineteen-year-old Nishank Manohar Kadam from Mannur village in Belagvi district of Karnataka battled flood and won silver at the state-level event.
Kadam, a class 12 student had been preparing to participate in the event but a severe flood situation in the state almost wiped off his dream. He and his father however found a way to bring his dream to realisation.
Kadam had to catch a train for Bengaluru on August 7, but floodwater has accumulated around his village making impossible for any vehicle to move. The three roads connecting his village were all submerged and damaged. They had been cordoned off by the rescue workers, according to a Times of India report.
