Indian Navy Abandons All Retrieval Operations 4 Days After It Spotted A Miner’s Decomposed Body

It has been over a month since 15 coal miners got trapped in a 320 feet deep gorge. Scuba divers were called, National Disaster and State disaster response forces were summoned to rescue the miners who were working inside a rat-hole mine (which has been declared illegal by NGT since 2014).

33 days after they went missing, Indian Navy managed to spot a floating body of one of the miners. The body was located inside a flooded rathole by the Navy’s underwater remote operated vehicle some 210 feet inside.

On January 17, therefore, it was believed that the corpse will be brought to the mouth of the cave and will be retrieved soon. Unfortunately, Indian Navy abandoned all efforts on Sunday to pull out the decomposed body, PTI reported.
