WWE gives the 10 bell salute while the entire roster stands on stage for the victims of the shootings in El Paso Texas and Dayton Ohio. Good job WWE.
Monday Night Raw is Live from Pittsburgh, PA tonight.
The final RAW before SummerSlam this Sunday and the crowd had no energy at all tonight which left a lot segments falling flat. A damn shame for a “come home” show.
RAW has a new opening intro!
Samoa Joe interrupts the intro and is screaming in the face of Michael Cole about how he wasn’t responsible of the “accident” that happened to Roman Reigns on SmackDown last week. I really really like this Samoa Joe.
He’s not going anywhere until his name is cleared.
Then boom Becky Lynch’s music hits and it’s time for The Man to have a match. Joe can take a seat…actuslly he just wondered off, I guess he wasn’t that mad.
Match #1: Tag Team Match
Raw Womans Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair v Natalya & Trish Stratus
Holy smokes! Not only are Becky and Charlotte partners, but Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has a match on RAW! What a start!
We’re less than 20 minutes into the show and I’m already sick of them telling me SummerSlam is this sunday. It’s going to be a loooong night.
This match started as a showcase teaser of how good Natalya is, but then turned into Charlotte beating any idea of that out of Natalya while she tries to tag in Trish.
Becky tags in against Charlotte’s wishes and gets attacked from behind by the Queen. Then Natalya puts her in the Sharpshooter.
Match End: Becky Lynch wins via DQ when Natalya doesn’t break the Sharpshooter when Becky grabbed the ropes. Also, Trish didn’t do anything at all. Lame.
Match #2: Singles Match
Rey Mysterio v Andrade w/Zelina Vega
Andrade literally ripped the mask off of Mysterio last week, so Rey is out for revenge. So disrespectful.
These two have the best kind of in ring chemistry and have yet to have a bad match. Such a pleasure to watch them work.
Match End: Andrade wins via pinfall after Mysterio is distracted by Zelina Vega trying to rip his mask off. That was one hell of a match!
Oh Lord…they set up in a clinic for Maria Kanellis’ OBGYN appointment. Every week this story gets closer and closer to a bad attitude era story.
MIKE KANELLIS DID IT! He pinned her in the stirrups! Then he got duped by R-Truth in disguise and now R-Truth is the 24/7 Champion. Okay okay I’ll admit I’m entertained.
More hype for the Becky Lynch v Natalya Raw Womans Championship match. Making it “real” now.
Brock is here. Hide the stretchers and chairs.
Paul Heyman shows the clips of Brock destroying Seth Rollins last week. Watching it again and I’m still impressed at how brutal they made that beating. So well done.
Seth Rollins hobbles out and for some stupid reason gets in the ring with Brock. The beating he receives isn’t at brutal as last week, but it was pretty bad. During this the crowd was silent. No chants for Seth or Brock, just silence. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing for since this was designed to be brutality. Interesting idea going into SummerSlam on Sunday.
After the break Seth gets a microphone and asks if it’s really all worth it. “This is all I am” “This is all I got” “I’ll be at SummerSlam and I’ll beat Brock Lesnar, I guarantee it”
Quite the subdued but hard hitting promo from a beaten Seth Rollins.
Kurt Angle is backstage about to talk when the Street Profits walk up and have a very entertaining segment with him. Admission number 2 tonight, in warming up to them being backstage being super marks. This was hilarious.
Match #3: Tag Team Match
The Viking Raiders v Local Jobbers
Another week, another jobber match. One of these guys has the biggest afro I’ve seen since Marc Majeau…so distracted.
Match End: The Viking Raiders get enhanced for another week. The crowd doesn’t give a shit either.
WWE honours the life of Harley Race with a video recap of his life in the ring. Rest in Peace Harley Race.
Match #4: Singles Match
Cedric Alexander v Drew McIntyre
Special guest referee Kurt Angle
Drew McIntyre jumps Cedric during his entrance, but Cedric gets a few moves in as well.
Then the light starts to cut out. Then the flashlights come on and The Fiend is in the ring! He attacks Kurt Angle with the Mandible Claw until the lights cut out again and that eerie laugh echos in the building. Awesome!
Match End: This match obviously didn’t happen.
Match #5: Non-title Tag Team Match
SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day Xavier Woods & Big E v Raw Tag Team Champions The OC Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson w/ United States Champion AJ Styles
(note, I honestly love writing all of the above)
Gallows brought back his Japan face paint! Hell yeah!
Match End: The New Day win via DQ because AJ Styles attacked Xavier Woods.
The OC continue to beat down The New Day until Ricochet’s music plays and he hits the ring taking out The OC. Do I smell a 6 man tag match?
Match #6: 6-man Tag Team Match
Raw Tag team Champions Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and United States Champion AJ Styles v SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day Big E & Xavier Woods and Ricochet.
(seriously I didn’t copy and paste that. I really love typing it all out)
Told ya, and it was got me sports entertained.
Match End: Luke Gallows pins Xavier Woods after hitting the Magic Killer.
Samoa Joe is told that Roman Reigns is in the building so he’s on the way to the ring to “shut the show down” until he gets an apology. He sits in the middle of the ring and yells for a while until then crowd chants “CM Punk” (ugh). He’s told Roman is in the parking lot so he heads there. Cut to hopefully better acting than we saw on SmackDown.
Joe talks Roman out of his rental car and then it’s hit by a car! Woah! I guess Joe wasn’t lying…hopefully someone says sorry. Joe actually shows concern for Roman after the break. Nice 4th Wall break here as HHH is shown trying to help as well.
I really hope it’s Rikishi doing it for the Rock again…(i really hope y’all get that reference)
Match #7: Womans Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match:
The Kabuki Warriors w/ Paige v Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville v Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross v The IIconics(c)
Corey Graves loses his damn mind when Mandy Rose makes her entrance which is always funny.
The Iiconics spend the first 5 minutes of the match in the ring hitting double team moves without being counted out.
Finally the ref gets things under control just in time for Mandy Rose pinning Billie Kay to pick up the first elimination. There will be new champions tonight!
The second part of this match was a showcase of Asuka and Kari Sane. Very nice back and forth between the Kabuki Warriors and Mandy & Sonya with a little bit of Alexa thrown in here that ends with Asuka making Mandy Rose submit for the second elimination. It’s down to The Kabuki Warriors v Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross!
The third part of this match has been great! Remember when Asuka and Nikki cross had that falls count anywhere match in NXT? Man, I wish they could do that in WWE. Sad that they can’t let loose like NXT.
Match End: Alexa big time misses a big punch, but hits all of Twisted Bliss for the pinfall victory. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross are the NEEEEWWW WWE Womans Tag Team Champions!!
Time for the MizTV contract signing between Miz and Dolph Ziggler and HBK has to be there because he got kicked? Okay. These always go well…
Dolph starts up on his usual “no respect” diatribe and signs the SummerSlam contract without looking at it.
Miz informs him that he messed up and will be facing….and it’s not HBK…it’s GOLDBERG! Holy smokes!
Ziggler flails his dumb ass up the ramp and is met with Sweet Chin Music as RAW goes off the air.
The wrestling this Monday was top tier and really deserved a better crowd than Pittsburgh game them.
