Two NXT Title Matches Announced, Gargano Changing His Attitude?

Last night’s episode of NXT featured a couple of new developments in some of the top feuds on the program. After defeating Lars Sullivan at NXT Takeover: Chicago to retain his title a few weeks back, Aleister Black had no challenger for the NXT Championship. However, the new number one contender was officially declared on yesterday’s edition of NXT. Tommaso Ciampa has earned himself a match against Black for the NXT title. The match will not be taking place at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn in August, but it will instead be occurring during the July 25th episode of the WWE Network series. Be on the lookout for the huge championship match between Ciampa and Black when it airs on NXT in three weeks.

The NXT Championship match between Aleister Black and Tommaso Ciampa was not the only title match that was announced during last night’s episode of NXT. As seen during the United Kingdom Championship Tournament, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate defeated The Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong to win the NXT Tag Team Championships. Although Seven and Bate have only held the championships for a short amount of time, the former titleholders are indeed entitled to a rematch for the belts, and sure enough, O’Reilly and Strong are cashing in on their rematch clause. The Undisputed Era will challenge Mustache Mountain for the tag team titles on next week’s episode of NXT.

Johnny Gargano’s epic feud against Tommaso Ciampa has been bitter and brutal to watch so far, but it appears that Gargano may be letting the rivalry get to his head. After he was denied another match against Ciampa on NXT last week, General Manager William Regal had Gargano face EC3 with the goal of having the former move on from his feud with Ciampa. During last night’s NXT episode, Gargano defeated EC3 using some more devastating and ruthless offense than fans are used to seeing him use in the ring. After winning the match, Gargano was interviewed in a video on WWE’s YouTube channel. Gargano even teased that his attitude chance will be a permanent move as he informed the fans that “Johnny Wrestling is gone.”
