WWE 205 Live Results (04/17): Tornado Tag Team Match

The show opens up with a video package recapping the feud between Hideo Itami & Akira Tozawa vs. Lucha House Party which is what lead us to tonight’s Tornado Tag Team Main Event Match.
Vic Joseph and Percy Watson welcome us to tonight’s show and sends a congratulations to Nigel McGuinness for having a baby girl. They preview that tonight Drake Maverick will address Buddy Murphy, plus the Tornado Tag Team Main Event Match.
We head backstage where we see that Dasha Fuentes is interviewing Ariya Daivari. He says that he wants his title shot and he wants to put Ali in the back of the line.

Mustafa Ali vs. Ariya Daivari: Ali hits a hurricanrana early on, followed by a quick cover. Daivari is having trouble early on, but turns things around as he focuses on Ali’s back. Daivari hits a backbreaker on Ali, then goes for a pin, but only a two count. Daivari plants Ali to the mat again and goes for another cover, but only a two count. Daivari goes right to the injured back of Ali once again. Ali gets back into it as he whips Daivari into the corner. Ali hits some big chops and ends up on the apron. Ali kicks the head of Daivari, then attempts a rolling facebuster into the ring, but he gets dropped. Daivari goes for a pin, but only a two count. Daivari yells “You blew it at WrestleMania!” to Ali. Daivari then gets sent out to the floor. Ali charges in and gets a spinebuster on the floor. Back in the ring, Daivari goes up to the top rope and hits a frog splash. Daivari goes for a cover, but only a two count. Daivari heads to the top rope and puts Ali on the top rope with him. Daivari tries a belly-to-back suplex, but Ali flips back onto his feet and heads up to the top rope again for the 054. Ali gets the win. Winner: Mustafa Ali
We get a recap of what transpired last week when Cedric Alexander was talking with Mustafa Ali in the ring the Buddy Murphy attacked the champion from behind.
We get a message from 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick saying that he doesn’t approve of Murphy’s actions, but his run leading up to last week was deserving of a title shot. So he made a match between Cedric and Buddy for the Greatest Royal Rumble Event, but then Murphy didn’t make weight as he came in over 207 lbs at the last mandatory weigh in. Instead, there will be a Gauntlet Match next Tuesday, with the winner going to Jeddah to challenge for the title on April 27th.
Gentleman Jack Gallagher & The Brian Kendrick vs. Vinny & Kevin (Local Wrestlers): Gallagher drops Vinny with ease and lands some hefty strikes. Kendrick comes in and drops some elbows on his opponent. Vinny tries to fight back, but that’s short lived as he flips out of a suplex and tags in his partner. Kevin runs in and gets a dropkick to the mug. Kendrick takes a shot to the face and he looks really bothered by that. Kendrick goes for a sliced bread number two, but ends up tagging Gallagher in. Gallagher slams his opponent’s face on the apron a couple of times. Gallagher enters the ring and gets a few forearms to the face. Kendrick tags in. Gallagher with a headbutt. Kendrick locks in the captain’s hook for the submission victory. Winners: Gentleman Jack Gallagher & The Brian Kendrick

We head backstage where Dasha Fuentes interviews Mustafa Ali. Dasha asks Ali about Murphy not making weight. Ali says that Murphy ruined Alexander’s moment last week and hopes Alexander gets his hands on Murphy. Until then, there is an opportunity and he doesn’t plan on letting an opportunity slip through his hands a second time.

We head to another area backstage where we get a promo from Drew Gulak. He says that he once again proved last week that aerial attacks are no match for his ground-based offense. Having dispatched Mark Andrews, he’s prepared to deal with his former partner Tony Nese’s misguiding attempts at retribution. Nese thinks he has a right to climb the ladder because he has washboard abs, but Gulak has bigger plans to spread his message, and that’s winning the Cruiserweight Title by first winning the Gauntlet Match next week. Gulak ends the promo by saying that whoever steps to him will tap out.
After we see footage of the main event teams warming up, 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick joins the announce team. He refuses to reveal the Gauntlet Match competitors for next week, but teases that he may let them out on social media during the week.
Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado vs. Hideo Itami & Akira Tozawa (Tornado Tag Team Match): Things get started quickly as Dorado and Metalik hits double superkicks followed up by double suicide dives. Kalisto is not at ringside. Maverick says that he wants the odds as fair as possible and asked Kalisto to stay in the back. Dorado hits a splash on Tozawa and boots Metalik to the outside. Everybody is on the floor. Tozawa with a reverse cannonball off the second rope. “Ah!” chants gets going as Tozawa and Itami stomp away at Dorado. Tozawa heads out to the floor to work on Metalik. Itami drops Dorado and goes for a cover, but only a one count. Itami his a splash in the corner, then goes for a cover, but only a two count. Dorado is caught in an armbar and gets completely tied up in the ring. Tozawa does the same to Metalik. Metalik ends up just falling down on Itami and Dorado to break up both submissions. Metalik is dumped out on the floor as Dorado slaps Itami in the face and gets it right back.

Itami tries to rip off Dorado’s mask. Tozawa comes over to help stomp away at Dorado. Itami and Tozawa are really beating the heck out of Dorado in this one. Metalik finally gets into this one with a dropkick. Metalik does some rope walking, then hits another move, then finally a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Both Itami and Tozawa are on the floor. Metalik and Dorado hits dual top rope moonsaults. Dorado gets sent into the stairs and flips hard over them. Tozawa is back in the ring and flips over the top rope to take out Metalik. Metalik is knocked out on the table. Tozawa heads to the top rope, but Dorado ends up crotching him. Itami climbs up too, but gets dropped down for a moment. Metalik is up on the apron now. All four wrestlers on the top for a powerbomb/suplex combo with all four guys. Dorado tries to end the match, but Tozawa comes in with a flying senton and goes for a cover, but Metalik runs in and stomps on Tozawa to break it up. Metalik with a handspring off the ropes, but gets kicked in the back. Itami with a boot to the face of Metalik and goes for a cover, but Dorado breaks it up.
Dorado with a springboard double stunner and falls back for a double pin, but only a two count. Crowd with a “this is awesome!” chant. Itami goes for a running dropkick on Dorado, but Metalik is in the way and goes for a Metalik driver. Itami tries to rip off Metalik’s mask. Tozawa goes to kick Metalik, but catches Itami. Both Metalik and Dorado off the top rope for the 1-2-3. Winners: Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado
After the match, Kalisto runs out and celebrates with his guys while Tozawa and Itami regroup on the ramp. 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick and the commentary team mentions that Gallagher and Kendrick stuck to their word that they wouldn’t interfere to get revenge on Itami for injuring The Brian Kendrick. 205 Live goes off the air.
