Impact/Jarrett Update, Gargano vs. Michaels “Ab-Off” at Takeover?

Speculation on the relationship between Global Force Wrestling and Impact Wrestling has been intensifying for months now. The two companies merged earlier this year, but when it was announced that Jeff Jarrett would be taking a leave of absence from GFW, fans questioned if he would ever return. He even appeared to take back the GFW initials as the company has since reverted back to their old ‘Impact Wrestling’ moniker. All of the questions that fans have been asking were answered yesterday when Impact announced that they officially terminated their relationship with Jeff Jarrett and his Global Force Wrestling company altogether.
Jeff Jarrett has yet to publicly comment on the matter, but WrestleZone.com reported that when they reached out to Jarrett for an update on the situation, Jarrett simply informed them that “Anthem is out of money.” Not long after this was reported, Impact Wrestling commented on Jarrett’s claim by stating: “That statement is inaccurate. Anthem and IMPACT Wrestling are looking forward to a successful 6-day tour in Ottawa, Nov. 5-10, and much more.” As far as when the decision was made to cut Jarrett from the company, PWInsider reported recently that Anthem came to that decision just a few days ago. During their announcement yesterday, Impact announced that their relationship with GFW would end effective immediately.
“The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels will be returning at last… in an “ab-off!” In a brief video posted on Michaels’ Twitter account, the WWE Hall of Famer challenged NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano to train as hard as possible by NXT Takeover: WarGames in November. Michaels wants to determine who has the best abs between himself and Gargano, and the NXT wrestler accepted his challenge. Shawn Michaels has been working as an occasional trainer and producer in NXT for a while now, so it seems likely that he will be in attendance for the Takeover event in Houston. The show will be taking place on November 18th, one day before the Survivor Series pay-per-view.
