The John Report: WWE Smackdown 02/07/20 Review

Welcome to another WWE Smackdown review here on TJRWrestling. There’s not much to say here, so let’s get to the show.
Live from San Jose, California, this is Smackdown for episode #1068. Follow me on Twitter @johnreport. Please visit TJRWrestling.net daily for our regular updates on the wrestling business featuring WWE news coverage along with reviews about wrestling’s past and present. Thanks to Melo Man for the banner up top.
The opening of the show was a brief video hyping up an appearance from Goldberg while wondering his famous catchphrase: “Who’s Next?” The Smackdown intro video aired after that.
The pyro went off in the arena as the crowd in San Jose was making a lot of noise. The announce team of Michael Cole and Corey Graves welcomed us to the show. They promoted what’s to come on the show: Daniel Bryan is there live, plus a Women’s Fatal 4-Way with Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Carmella and Dana Brooke with the winner getting an SD Women’s Title shot against Bayley. Cole said that was the main event.

The Miz and John Morrison Host The Dirt Sheet
The Miz made his entrance in street clothesline including a suit jacket and John Morrison joined him although Morrison was not wearing a shirt underneath his jacket. They are getting a Smackdown Tag Team Title match against The New Day at Super Showdown on Thursday, February 27.
They welcomed us to The Dirt Sheet, which was an internet only show over a decade ago. Morrison said that he has shirts with buttons, but he didn’t use them. Miz called himself a chick magnet, Morrison questioned that and Miz said that he had a wife and two daughters, so it’s true. Miz said that they had some movie trailer. It featured Mr. Miz (Mike’s dad George) while Miz and Morrison beat up some guys in the movie. Lance Storm even made a cameo telling Miz he’s better than that. John Laurinaitis mentioned “people power” to Miz. It was called “Once Upon A Time On The Dirt Sheet” and that was the end of it as it said that they would be the new Tag Team Champions.
Analysis: The best part of that was Mr. Miz, who is hilarious in his own way. There were some funny things too. I watched it twice and it was pretty good.

Miz said that maybe that’s Oscar worthy and it’s definitely worthy of the Smackdown tag team titles. Morrison tried to insult the crowd saying that their boos would mean more if it was from a respected group like The Academy.
The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Big E made their entrance as they sarcastically said they liked the trailer. Kingston said that Mr. Miz was out there doing his stance. Kingston said that he is Mr. Miz’s favorite WWE superstar while adding that he likes Kofi more than his own son. Big E had a joke about Nelly’s credit cards on BTE Uncut. New Day went into the ring laughing at them saying that it’s Richard Pryor-level comedy to think that they will win the titles. Miz told them they have dominated them the last two weeks. Miz said that they have beat every team that Smackdown has to offer for their tag team titles while they did some hip shaking.
The Usos made the interruption while Jimmy was wondering who they said they beat and did the “who” thing. Jey said that Miz and Morrison never beat The Usos, so they welcomed them to the Uso Penitentiary.

Dolph Ziggler’s music hit as Miz and Morrison hit New Day in the back. Ziggler and tag team partner Robert Roode went down to ringside. The Usos face Ziggler and Roode after a break.
Analysis: This was okay. It dragged on a bit too much, but I like that the tag team division is getting more attention of late due to there being some actual teams on the show.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode
These teams were in six-man tags the last two weeks on Smackdown and now they are in another tag team match against eachother.
Roode started with Jimmy, Roode with punches and then Jimmy hit an uppercut to knock him down. Jimmy also punched Ziggler out of the ring. Jey jumped off the top rope with a punch to the arm of Roode, Ziggler tripped Jey and that allowed Roode to hit a clothesline for two. Ziggler tagged in with a dropkick for a two count followed by some cheap eye gouging from Roode when the referee wasn’t looking. Roode with a front suplex, Ziggler got the tag and hit a Fameasser for a two count. Ziggler knocked Jimmy off the apron, Jey got a rollup for two and Roode tagged in for a spinebuster/Zig Zag combo for two as Jimmy made the save. Jey with an enziguri kick on Roode while Ziggler and Jimmy were knocked out of the ring. Ziggler distracted Jey on the top, so Roode shoved Jey off the top to send him crashing into the barricade. That led to a break.
(Commercial)

The match continued with the heels still in control as Roode stomped away on Jey against the turnbuckle. Jey dropped Ziggler with two uppercuts, but Ziggler kicked the knee to stop Jey’s momentum. Jey managed to send legal man Roode out of the ring, then he broke free and Jimmy got the hot tag. Jimmy with a kick to Roode followed by a cross body block off the top. Jimmy with punches followed by a Samoan Drop on both opponents. Jimmy hit the running hip attack on Ziggler while Roode came back with a powerslam on Jimmy for two. Roode did his “glorious” pose, Jimmy with a back body drop and Ziggler tagged in with a Zig Zag for two because that’s not his finisher anymore. Jimmy with a superkick on Ziggler and a superkick on Roode. Ziggler rolled into position, Jey jumped off the top with a splash, Ziggler got the knees up and a cradle for two count. Ziggler was sent out of the ring, The Usos hit a double superkick on Roode and Jimmy tagged in, he went up top and hit an Uso Splash off the top rope for the pinfall win on Roode after about 12 minutes.
Winners by pinfall: The Usos
Analysis: ***1/2 This was really good tag team wrestling by four experienced guys that had a traditional match with Jey as the face in peril, Jimmy got the hot tag and The Usos found a way to win again. When The Usos get the momentum going, the crowd is always behind them and they were this week too. They have been booked strong since they have returned to WWE. I think Ziggler/Roode have a lot of value as a heel team that can put over anybody at any time, but they could also go on a win streak and it would be believable too. It’s nice to have tag team depth.

Still to come: Goldberg is on Smackdown.
Up next is a recap of King Corbin getting humiliated by Roman Reigns and The Usos last week.
(Commercial)
A video let us know that WrestleMania 36 was 58 days away as of Friday.
Alexa Bliss was shown getting ready in the locker room with her buddy Nikki Cross talking to her about the match. Bliss bragged about how she was the first woman to win the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Titles to tell us that she was ready.
A replay was shown of last week of Roman Reigns and The Usos dumping dog food all over King Corbin because Corbin lost a six-man tag team match last week.

King Corbin was shown walking into a production truck and he complained about somebody playing the video. A guy raised his hand saying he’s the one that played the video, so Corbin grabbed him and threw him down a flight of steps in the parking lot. That led to some WWE backstage producers like Shawn Daivari, Sonjay Dutt and Adam Pearce showing up to break it up.
Analysis: It’s a way to get Corbin cheap heel heat by having him beat up a guy that’s not a wrestler at least in the eyes of the fans. The guy was probably some indy wrestler.
Elias was in the ring playing the guitar while the fans cheered for him. Elias thanked San Jose leading to his usual “Who Wants to Walk With Elias?” question, which led to cheers. Elias said that his song is called “Third Time’s a Charm.” Before he could get going, Cesaro’s music hit to interrupt.
Cesaro was joined by the liberator Sami Zayn, who said he was sorry to interrupt him. Zayn said that Elias interrupted Zayn last week and it doesn’t feel too good to be interrupted. Elias said it’s a miracle if he doesn’t get interrupted for the last 2.5 years. Zayn said Elias interrupted them when they were dealing with a crisis after Shinsuke Nakamura was robbed of the Intercontinental Championship. Zayn said that now Elias is going to pay at the hands of Cesaro while adding that everything that happens now is because Elias brought it on himself. That match is next.
Analysis: Good promo work from Zayn as usual. I still miss watching him in the ring, but WWE wants to keep him out of the ring due to shoulder issues I guess and they must value him in the manager role more now.

(Commercial)
Elias vs. Cesaro (w/Sami Zayn)
Elias was in control with a back body drop followed by a backbreaker. Elias kicked Cesaro down to the mat. Zayn distracted Elias, so Cesaro sent Elias into the ring post and a boot to the face sent Elias to the floor into the barricade. Cesaro slammed Elias onto the top of the barricade. Cesaro with a back body drop followed by an elbow drop for two. Cesaro hit a gutwrench suplex for two. Cesaro set up Elias against the ropes where Zayn got in a cheap shot punch to the face that the referee doesn’t see. Elias got some momentum going with a belly to back suplex. Cesaro charged, Elias got a boot up and a jumping knee to the face got a two count. That looked pretty good. Elias went up top, Cesaro hit him with an uppercut followed by the superplex while Elias was standing on the apron, which is an amazing feat and that got a two count. Elias got nearfalls with a jackknife cover and inside cradle, but Cesaro came back with an uppercut for two. The intensity picked up with Elias working over Cesaro with kicks, then a clothesline and body slam. Elias went up top, he jumped off with an elbow drop off the top and that was good enough for the pinfall win after about eight minutes.
Winners by pinfall: Elias
Analysis: **1/2 The match was hard-hitting at times and very competitive with Elias getting a much-needed win because he hasn’t been featured in singles matches on Smackdown that often. Cesaro remains the most underrated and underused guy in WWE because he could be doing so much more than he is. Elias did a nice job of picking up the intensity as the match went on. I don’t mind the top rope elbow as a finisher instead of the Drift Away neckbreaker that he has used in the past.

Next Tuesday on WWE Backstage on Fox Sports 1, Charlotte Flair is a guest on the show. CM Punk is on next week too, but they didn’t mention him there.
Goldberg is up next.

There was a plug for the all-new XFL football league (owned by Vince McMahon) and they plugged two games on Fox this weekend.
Analysis: I love the NFL and college football, but I’m not sure if I’ll watch the XFL that much. I’m a hardcore NBA guy too and I like college basketball, plus some NHL this time of year. That’s in addition to all of the wrestling and other TV/movies that I try to watch. They should do better than the one season they had nearly 20 years ago. The main reason secondary football leagues in the US fail is because the lack of star power. There aren’t great players to sell tickets to the games because the fans know the better players are in the NFL. Vince McMahon has a lot of money, though, so if he’s willing to sustain financial losses for a year or two, then maybe by year three they can make some money. The TV deal will see them featured on Fox and ESPN, so that’s pretty good. Best of luck with it.

King Corbin showed up on the stage for a promo telling us that we had to listen to what the King had to say. Corbin said that Roman Reigns should have lost last week just like their sorry 49ers should have lost to his Kansas City Chiefs. (I bet a lot of money on the Chiefs. Thanks Chiefs.) That drew massive boos from the crowd, as you would expect. I’m shocked that Corbin wasn’t a wearing a Chiefs shirt – he was in a Corbin shirt. Corbin said that The Usos were carrying Reigns while calling him dead weight. Corbin claimed he should have won their Falls Count Anywhere match at Royal Rumble and he should have won the Royal Rumble match. Corbin said he demands one more match with Roman Reigns. Corbin said he is the king here on Smackdown, so the show is not going further until he gets Roman Reigns right here in the middle of this ring. Corbin went up to some fan wearing a Roman Reigns shirt, he got another guy’s drink and poured the drink onto the fan’s head.
Roman Reigns made his entrance as Reigns walked down to ringside and hit Corbin with a Superman Punch. That fan gave Reigns a drink to pour on Corbin. Reigns hit a Drive By kick on Reigns at ringside. Reigns rolled Corbin in the ring, then Corbin left out of the other side of the ring and Corbin ran away through the crowd.
Reigns did a promo in the ring saying Corbin is a coward. Reigns said if the coward wants one more match then he’s got it. Reigns suggested that they do it inside of a steel cage. That was it for Roman’s promo. Reigns greeted the fan at ringside that Corbin poured the drink on.
Analysis: That was okay. They really went heavy on the cheap heat for Corbin this week by having him trash the 49ers, he beat up a guy that worked on the technical team in WWE and poured a drink on a planted fan at ringside. I don’t think the world is clamoring for Reigns vs. Corbin again, but I guess it’s a way to put an end to this rivalry. The expectation is that Reigns will face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, so they still have some time to set that up since WM is two months away.

Let’s Hear from Bill Goldberg
Bill Goldberg appeared via satellite at his home in Texas. I think most people assumed he would be in the arena, but he was not.
Goldberg said that last week he saw the Royal Rumble pay-per-view with his son. Goldberg said that it gave him that itch to compete again. Goldberg talked about how his old pal Brock Lesnar has his hands full with Ricochet and Drew McIntyre coming for the WWE Championship, but what about the Universal Championship? Goldberg said his time with the Universal Title was short and he didn’t get a rematch. Goldberg said he likes to meet a challenge head on.
There was an interruption by “Firefly Fun House News” as Bray Wyatt was shown sitting on a chair hosting this “news” segment. Wyatt said that William Goldberg is thinking of challenging The Fiend for the Universal Championship and he said that’s bad news for Bill because the word on the street is “he accepts.” Mercy the Buzzard gave us a weather update saying it would be a cold day in hell before The Fiend loses the championship.
Goldberg and Wyatt were shown split screen. Goldberg told Wyatt that intimidation won’t work on him and said that the only thing he’s taking from him is the Universal Championship. Goldberg yelled: “The Fiend…Bray Wyatt…you’re next!” Goldberg left. Wyatt said that wasn’t very nice, then said “let me in” and he said bye to Bill.
Analysis: That was not what I expected for Goldberg’s next match. It’s a fresh matchup for the Universal Title, so I don’t think it’s a bad idea. I would expect Wyatt to get the win at Super Showdown when they have the match, but Goldberg is often booked strong, so it’s hardly a lock.

Daniel Bryan was shown in the locker room watching a TV when Heath Slater showed up to talk to him. Slater said he didn’t think Goldberg knew what he was getting himself into and he should talk to Bryan out of that. Slater said that The Fiend beat Bryan bad. Slater wondered why Bryan would be tied up with The Fiend in the Strap Match. Slater said it was “kinda stupid” while he asked Bryan if he’s okay. Bryan wondered what Slater thought about a match against Bryan right now and Bryan left.
Analysis: That was an interesting meeting by the last two original Nexus members in WWE. Heath Slater is still in WWE? Sure he is. That’s a guy that is almost never used at all.
(Commercial)

A video aired about The Main Event from February 5, 1988 when Hulk Hogan lost the WWF Title due to the evil twin referees that were paid off by Ted Dibiase to give the WWF Title to Andre the Giant. Hogan got his shoulder up on a pin attempt, but the evil referee still counted the pin. That match on TV drew something like 33 million viewers. Huge.
Daniel Bryan made his entrance while Heath Slater was in the ring for their match. A video aired about Bryan’s loss against The Fiend at Royal Rumble with Bryan taking a beating since it was a Strap Match.
Heath Slater vs. Daniel Bryan
Bryan with a running dropkick to send Slater into the turnbuckle, Bryan sent Slater out of the ring and hit a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Bryan with a missile dropkick. Bryan with the kicks to the chest followed by a roundhouse kick to the head. Bryan led the crowd in “Yes” chants followed by the running knee to the face. Bryan said he’s not done yet. Bryan stomped on Slater’s face, the referee stopped it and Bryan did it again. Bryan slapped on the LeBell Lock (Yes Lock) and the referee called for the bell because Slater was out of it. This went about two minutes.
Winner by submission: Daniel Bryan
Analysis: 1/2* A dominant win by Bryan to give him some positive momentum again after he lost to The Fiend at Royal Rumble. Bryan usually doesn’t work the Saudi Arabian shows, so I’m unsure about what his next rivalry will be.
Braun Strowman is up next.

(Commercial)
The Progressive Match Flo replay showed highlights of last week’s Smackdown when Braun Strowman beat Shinsuke Nakamura to win the Intercontinental Title.
Let’s Hear from Braun Strowman
Braun Strowman was introduced by Renee Young, who was in the ring to conduct an interview. Strowman walked out to the ring with the Intercontinental Championship, which was his first singles championship win in WWE.
Strowman had a big smile on his face. Strowman said that every time he thinks about this, he gets chills. Strowman said he’s done amazing things in WWE like winning the Greatest Royal Rumble, he won the Raw Tag Team Titles with an 8-year-old at WrestleMania, but the one thing he hadn’t been able to do is hold a singles title over his head…that is until now.
Shinsuke Nakamura made his entrance with the liberator Sami Zayn joining him. Zayn said that Strowman’s win was fraudulent, so they demanded a rematch. Strowman said he’ll defend his Intercontinental Championship any time and any place including right now in San Jose. Zayn said that it’s not going to happen tonight and no way it will happen in San Jose. Zayn said that they will be smart, surgical and tactical about this. The Revival showed up behind Strowman and they attacked Strowman from behind. Nakamura and Zayn joined them in the ring.

Nakamura set up Strowman against the turnbuckle. The Revival whipped Nakamura across the ring, but Strowman stopped that with a punch to the face. Strowman knocked down Dawson and Wilder as well. Zayn ran away, Strowman chased after him (while knocking over Dawson and Wilder), Zayn ran back in the ring and Nakamura hit a kick on Strowman followed by the Kinshasa knee that knocked down Strowman. Zayn hugged The Revival and celebrated with The Revival.
Analysis: It was a fine way to set up a rematch with Strowman and Nakamura. I think adding The Revival to Zayn’s group will keep them relevant a bit although it’s well known now that The Revival have asked for their WWE releases and those have not been granted. I don’t think this will be enough to keep them in WWE long term, but that’s up to them.
(Commercial)

They showed former UFC Champion (in two divisions) Daniel Cormier at ringside along with his son. Cormier is a legit wrestling fan, so I’m sure it’s cool for him to be there.
A video aired about Otis getting ready for his big date with Mandy Rose next Friday on Valentine’s Day. Tucker was there to get him ready. That led to a training montage that showed Otis working out, which included Otis doing situps and eating pizza. They figured out that Otis would wear a suit with the arms cut off. Otis tried to practice eating a steak like a gentleman, but then he knocked the table over by accident. Tucker said Otis is ready and Otis said he’s ready for it.
Analysis: The comedy dating skits next week should be humorous because Otis makes me laugh. Plus, Mandy is ridiculously gorgeous, so I don’t mind anything that she does. This is one of these cheesy WWE angles that is working because they are good performers. We all know Vince loves fat guy humor too.
Sheamus entered for match with Apollo Crews in the ring. Cole called Crews a “tough test” that is obviously a lie.
Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews

Crews with a kick to the chest and a step up enziguri. Crews tried an attack against the turnbuckle, Sheamus moved and Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick for the pinfall win in about 30 seconds.
Winner by pinfall: Sheamus
Analysis: 1/4* A very short match to put over Sheamus as a dominant heel. Crews needs to be in a tag team or maybe move on from WWE because it doesn’t seem like they are going to use the guy right.
Post match, Sheamus wanted to continue the attack, but Shorty G went into the ring for the save. Shorty avoided a Brogue Kick, Shorty grabbed the ankle and Sheamus broke free leading to a Brogue Kick.
Analysis: Sheamus has dominated that rivalry too. I don’t know what the plan is for Sheamus at WrestleMania, but I know he’s talked about wanting to win the IC Title since that’s the only singles title he has failed to win. Maybe they’ll do Sheamus vs. Strowman at WrestleMania. It would be a fresh feud at least.
The women’s Fatal 4-Way main event is next.

(Commercial)
There was a rundown of Super Showdown matches on Thursday, February 27: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt defends the Universal Title vs. Goldberg, New Day defends the Smackdown Tag Team Titles vs. John Morrison & The Miz and Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin in a Steel Cage match.
Three of the women were already in the ring while Bayley was at ringside. Naomi’s full “glow” entrance was shown. It’s a bit of a surprise that they wouldn’t show the entrances.

Naomi vs. Dana Brooke vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Carmella
The winner of this match gets to face Bayley for the Women’s Title. The first fall wins this match.
Naomi and Brooke battled with each woman getting nearfalls, Carmella got a rollup on Brooke and Bliss got a nearfall on Carmella. When Carmella did a moonwalk, she went right into Bliss, who sent Carmella into the corner and Carmella hit Brooke with a forearm. Naomi sent Bliss out of the ring and Naomi hit a corkscrew plancha over the top onto the three women on the floor. Bayley held up the SD Women’s Title in front of Naomi, so Naomi tackled her, but Bayley fought back and Bayley whipped Naomi into the steel steps. There are no DQ’s in a 4-Way match. The crowd chanted for Bayley a bit since she’s from the San Jose area.
(Commercial)

The match returned with Brooke missing a Senton Bomb off the top on Carmella, Bliss hit a DDT on Brooke and Carmella hit a DDT on Bliss with Carmella selling like she was hurt. Naomi came back with a kick to Carmella, a springboard cross body block, a jawbreaker, a full nelson slam and a springboard kick on Brooke for two as Bliss made the save. Bliss dumped Naomi out of the ring, Carmella got a rollup for two and Bliss slapped Carmella repeatedly to knock her down. Brooke picked up Bliss and hit a sitout Powerbomb for two, but Carmella broke up the pin. Carmella hit a running bronco buster on Brooke, Naomi with a bulldog into the middle turnbuckle on Carmella and a springboard moonsault got a two count as Brooke made the save. Naomi countered a Brooke slam into a Stunner. Bliss got back in the ring with a dropkick on Naomi. Naomi got an inside cradle on Bliss followed by a body slam and leg drop, but that’s only good for a two count. Naomi and Bliss battled on the top, Bliss shoved Naomi down and Bliss covered for a two count. The referee was clearly giving time cues to Brooke and Carmella while they were on the floor, which led to them being on the apron. Naomi sent Bliss into Carmella’s ribs. Naomi slammed Brooke back into the ring followed by a split legged leg drop. Bliss sent Naomi face first into the middle turnbuckle. Bliss blocked a bulldog attempt by shoving Naomi into the turnbuckle. Bliss did a very slow climb to the top rope, Naomi got the knees up to block the Twisted Bliss splash and Naomi hit the Rear View on Bliss for two. When Naomi went to cover Bliss, Carmella hit her with a superkick and then another superkick. Carmella covered, Naomi’s right shoulder wasn’t down for the first two counts by the referee Ryan Tran, but he still counted and by the third count the shoulder was down because Carmella put it down. The match went 12 minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Carmella
Here’s what it looked like when Carmella covered Naomi for the first count by the referee. As I said, by the third count, the shoulder was down.

Analysis: **3/4 They worked hard, planned the spots well and had a competitive match that the fans were into for the most part. There were several good nearfall spots with other women breaking it up at the last moment. I thought Naomi was the standout performer in this match by utilizing her cool looking moves. Everybody else did fine too, but Naomi really got to showcase what she can do. The ending with the pinfall where Naomi’s shoulder wasn’t down was a bit of a mistake by the women in the match. It’s not something that is going to bother me that much. Carmella winning is a bit unexpected because they haven’t done anything with her for a long time. I figured the woman to take the pin would be Brooke, but instead it was Naomi.
The win by Carmella means she’ll challenge Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Title.
After the match, Bayley went into the ring to attack Carmella from behind. Bayley grabbed Carmella from the back and slammed her face first into the mat kind of like The Stroke finisher that Jeff Jarrett used to do. Bayley stood over Carmella and then left the ring.
Replays were shown of the finish. Bayley and Carmella had a staredown to end the show.
Analysis: The win by Carmella means that Naomi is probably going to be Bayley’s opponent at WrestleMania. I think they could get Lacey Evans back in the picture and maybe Sasha Banks too. I think a multi-woman match is very possible. Perhaps Banks and Bayley have issues in the match, Bayley loses the title and then that sets off Banks/Bayley as a rivalry for the rest of the year. I don’t know what the plan is. I’m just throwing ideas out there. Bayley is also close friends with Carmella. I remember a few years ago when they would always post “Baymella” videos in the car together, so I’m sure they’ll enjoy working together.

Three Stars of the Show

  1. The Usos
  2. Dolph Ziggler/Robert Roode
  3. Carmella/Bliss/Naomi/Brooke

The Scoreboard
5.75 out of 10
Last week: 5.75
2020 Average: 6.42
Last 5 Weeks: 5.75, 7, 7.25, 6.5, 6.25

Final Thoughts
I give this week’s Smackdown a 5.75 out of 10.
It felt like an average Smackdown to me. They announced three matches for Super Showdown, so at least there was some progress made on some storylines, but I don’t think fans are clamoring for another Reigns vs. Corbin match. The match quality was not as good as what I’d like to see on Smackdown. They can put on better matches if they give the wrestlers a chance. I thought The Usos match against Ziggler/Roode was clearly the best of the night although it’s not like it was anything out of the ordinary. The women’s 4-Way match in the main event was okay. I don’t think it really needed the main event spot, but there was nothing else on this show that could have been in that spot. A lot of the bigger names weren’t in matches this week, so that hurts a bit too.
The Goldberg appearance not being in the arena probably upset some of the fans in attendance. I didn’t expect him to challenge The Fiend at Super Showdown, but there it is as a unique first-time ever match.

The next WWE pay-per-view is Super Showdown on Thursday, February 27. Here’s what we know so far.
WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Ricochet
WWE Universal Championship: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Bill Goldberg
Steel Cage Match: Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin
Smackdown Tag Team Championships: The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) (c) vs. The Miz and John Morrison
I’m not sure if Bayley vs. Carmella is on this show. It’s not on WWE’s Super Showdown page.
