The finals of the men’s and women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classics are set following last night’s episode of NXT.
The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) will face MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) in the men’s Dusty Classic finals at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day this Sunday. The women’s Dusty Classic finals are also being held at Vengeance Day, with Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon taking on Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez.
It was announced last night that the team that wins the women’s Dusty Classic will receive a future shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. The team that wins the men’s tournament will get a shot at Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch’s NXT Tag Team titles.
The Grizzled Young Veterans advanced to the finals by defeating Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher in the main event of last night’s NXT. MSK defeated Legado Del Fantasma’s Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde on the show, while Blackheart & Moon defeated Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell. Kai & Gonzalez advanced to the finals by defeating Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter last week.
Last night’s NXT ended with face-offs for all of the matches at TakeOver. Finn Balor will defend his NXT Championship against Pete Dunne on Sunday, Io Shirai will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez in a triple threat match, and Johnny Gargano will defend his NXT North American Championship against Kushida. There was an angle on last night’s show where Gargano unsuccessfully tried to get out of facing Kushida by faking an injury.
