Auxerre and Brest target Jocelyn Gourvennec as new manager

Foot Mercato report this afternoon that both Auxerre and Brest are targeting former Bordeaux and Lille coach Jocelyn Gourvennec for their vacant manager’s jobs.

Auxerre showed the door to Jean-Marc Furlan earlier this week due to poor results and a middle finger incident in the loss to Clermont, while bottom-placed Brest dismissed Michel Der Zakarian as well.

Gourvennec, who was replaced at Lille by Paulo Fonseca after a failed title defence last year, now has the choice between the Burgundy side or the Bretons for his next job in management.

Ligue 1’s 16th-place team are set to meet with the coach in the coming hours, while Gourvennec himself is interested in taking on the job at Brest, his home town. Having made his name in Brittany with Guingamp, the 50-year-old could now be in line for a return to his home region. His main rival for the job is said to be Christophe Pélissier, who left Lorient at the end of last season.
