Speaking to Le Télégramme, Ligue 2 side Lorient’s President Loïc Féry discussed the future of 21-year-old attacker Alexis Claude Maurice.
“Alexis produced exceptional performances last year. He was in the Ligue 2 Team of the Year. He demonstrated an exemplary state of mind and great professionalism. He has another three years worth of contract. He signed a contract extension not long ago, which enabled him to continue progressing at Lorient. The club told him that he could leave this summer if everyone was satisfied.”
“Alexis will have the choice between continuing to progress here or to go to clubs who have an agreement with FC Lorient. We don’t have any agreements at the moment. We have received 4 offers. One offer from Germany which is 6 weeks old, well under the value of the player. Two English offers, including one that was not a permanent transfer, and one offer from France. We are still in discussions with two of these four clubs and there are as well other teams. The fact that multiple clubs are after him shows that he is a player of great quality, with a very big potential. I am used to saying that he is probably the most talented player that we have had in our squad since I became president. There have been very honest discussions with the coach. It is not impossible that he will do a couple of matches with us or even the entire season if that is the way things go.”
