Angers will as ever look to move quickly to replace the departed Flavien Tait, who officially joined Rennes yesterday for a reported €9m.
The French versatile attacker had been informed by Le SCO that he could leave the club this summer and so Stéphane Moulin and co. have long identified possible replacements.
One is Nîmes winger Sada Thioub, who Soccer Link claimed yesterday was in advanced negotiations to replace Tait at Angers.
The other, as reported by L’Équipe this morning, is 22-year-old Clermont winger Mathias Pereira Lage.
At the moment, there are two proposals on the table for the player under contract until 2021: one from Brest and one from Brescia. The former bid is viewed as too small by the Ligue 2 side, but the player does not want to move to Italy. Angers could provide a solution.
In an interview with La Montagne, Clermont President Ahmet Schaefer had the following to say on the situation:
“He is not going to go to Brest, I can say that. For Mathias, we have an offer, from Serie A, for €2.5m, with a 50% sell-on percentage clause. But his agent his pushing him to go to Brest, who have made a €750k offer with 10% sell-on percentage clause. If Brest do not match the €2.5m offer, or at least €2m, then Mathias will stay.”
