Former Cardiff number eight Nick Williams took to social media to share thanks after he suffered from a cardiac arrest.
The 38-year-old was immensely popular during his time in Wales, where he made 77 appearances and scored 13 tries for the capital region.
Williams is fondly remembered for playing a key role in Cardiff’s Challenge Cup title win in 2013 and thanked the public for their messages as well as the medical personnel who came to his aid.
Huge thanks
“Talofa lava everyone. I’m extremely grateful to the big man upstairs for getting myself and my family through a tough few weeks. I can’t thank you all enough for the love, thoughts and prayers. I haven’t been able to get back to you all but please know that I’m truly thankful from the bottom of my heart,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
“To my superhero Jase, the Welsh Air Ambulance and the entire staff at the NHS my sincerest thanks and love to you all. Diolch yn fawr iawn.
“Finally to my brothers, my sisters, mum and of course my beautiful wife Gemma and our three girls, your strength and love is my drive to get stronger day by day. From now it’s all about rest and recovery. Health is wealth.”
The Welsh region shared their thoughts with their former star and wrote they were grateful to see him recovering from the worrying event.
On the mend
“Sending love to Nick and family. We’re all so pleased to see you on the mend,” Cardiff Rugby wrote in a statement.
Williams was born in Auckland and played professional rugby for 16 years representing North Harbour, the Blues, Aironi, Munster and Ulster before joining Cardiff, where he retired in 2020.
