Virat Kohli on Sunday brought up his second consecutive ton of the IPL 2023 during the side’s match against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Post his fiery knock, Kohli said that although many people believe that his performance in the game’s shortest format is deteriorating, he thinks otherwise.
“I felt great. Lot of people think that my T20 cricket is declining, I don’t think so. I look to hit gaps and then the big ones towards the end. You have to read situations and rise up to the situations. I feel really good with my game at the moment,” the 34-year-old said during the post-match interaction.
The former skipper said that he feels that if the bowlers carry out their strategies successfully, their total can be defended.
“We would have taken that with both hands once we were five wickets down. We pretty much pulled things back towards the end. Close to 200 is a winnable score for me. It’s upon the bowlers to execute,” he said.

Adding more on his knock, he said, “You have to read situations and rise up to the situations. I feel really good with my game at the moment. Spin wasn’t easy to get away. There’s enough on this pitch for our bowlers.”
“What matters is to stay in the present. I wasn’t focusing on the rain, focused on what I need to do for the team,” he said.
Meanwhile, this was his seventh IPL century, the highest in the league’s history, as Royal Challengers Bangalore made 197 for five against Gujarat Titans in a must-win final league stage game for the home team.
Asked to bat first, RCB were off to a brisk start with both Faf du Plessis (28 off 19 balls) and Virat Johli (101 not out off 61) finding the boundaries at will. This was Kohli’s second straight hundred.
Thanks to their aggressive approach, RCB scored 62 runs in the powerplay. Earlier, the start of the match was delayed by nearly an hour due to heavy rains that left the outfield of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium wet.
