Former LA Dodgers owner Frank McCourt has officially purchased Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille from Margarita Louis Dreyfus for an undisclosed fee believed to be around €50m.

McCourt had the following to say on the matter:

“Today, a new chapter begins in the great history of Olympique de Marseille. A chapter that I am proud and honoured to be part of. I no doubt that the challenges that OM have had to face on the pitch and off of it in recent years have had a negative impact of the fans. By sticking by the club, the fans have shown their loyalty and their unwavering support, which shows the power of sport and affection that they have for our club.”
