SMSU opened season at DWU Open on Saturday

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling team opened the 2016-17 season on Saturday competing at the Dakota Wesleyan Open (S.D.).

Cole Hennen and Griffin Osing each recorded third-place finishes to lead the Mustangs. Hennen finished 5-1 at 184 pounds, while Osing also finished with a 5-1 record at 174. Hennen earned the third place finish with a 14-6 major decision over an opponent from Iowa Western C.C. with Osing picking up a 4-2 win in the third place match over Parker Jackson from Concordia-Moorhead.

Cortez Arredondo placed fourth at 149 with a 5-2 record.

Dakota Wesleyan University Open Results

Southwest Minnesota State returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 16, hosting Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) for its home dual opener at the PE Gym starting at 7 p.m.
